The UCA202 from Behringer is a state-of-the-art digital conversion device intended for use as an interface between an audio source or processsor, such as a musical instrument, mixing console, and a computer, enabling the use of the many computer based audio software applications available. The device has ultra-low latency, meaning a quick response and 48kHz converters ensure that the sound is always high quality.
As an interface the unit provides an input that can be used for stereo or two mono channels and a two channel output. Additionally, a digital optical output is provided for devices that utilise optical interfaces. A headphone output is provided that has its own level control and the USB allows connectivity with a computer, both PC and Mac.
To get the most out of the UAC202, recording and editing software such as Kristal (www.kreatives.org/kristal/) or Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) are available for free download. The user manual provides full details of oww to use the device, including suggestions for connecting equipment for various uses.
