Safety switches control the safe opening and interlocking of guards and covers on machine systems. Telemecanique’s range of cable switches are either key, lever or spindle operated, while the RFID version is a contactless system consisting of a microprocessor-controlled solid-state switch with PNP outputs, and a transponder in a separate housing. RFID safety switches are designed for applications where personnel protection is required, generally used to monitor the position of movable safety guards to prevent hazardous incidents.
Latching switches from the Telemecanique XY2CE series are operated by a pull-rope. Models are available for either left-hand or right-hand operation. The switches are re-set by operating a booted push-button, mounted on the unit. Some switches are fitted with an additional indicator lamp to show their status.
Safety light curtains protect staff operating near dangerous machinery. Partial or full access into hazardous zones is enabled for machine loading and unloading and for adjustment or maintenance operations. An array of infra-red LEDs is located in the transmitter, which emits infra-red beams to photo-sensitive cells located in the receiver.
