Telemecanique’s non-contact proximity sensors play a critical role in the operation of electrically controlled industrial machinery.
Inductive proximity sensors, of which Telemecanique’s XS series has a range of up to 60mm, are used to detect metals and to guarantee the safety and reliability of an installation. Applications for inductive proximity sensors include material handling and conveying, with the exceptionally flush format XS7 and XS8 range ideal for installations where space is limited and mechanical adjustment is not required.
A major advantage of the XS8 series is that users do not need to mechanically adjust the sensor position to ensure detection. This makes product replacement much easier and faster. For the most demanding applications, the flat XS8 range brings increased sensing distance and a teach mode that allows the sensor to learn its environment. For example, the sensor will ignore fixed metal parts and only change its state when it detects moving parts.
Capacitive proximity sensors detect the presence of non-metallic materials such as plastics, paper, water, rubber and oils, and can be employed in applications to check on the levels of substances and material volumes. The XT series senses any non-metallic object irrespective of material or conductivity within a range of 20mm.
