This plastic bug pot is essential equipment for children studying nature. The transparent pot has a magnifying lid (2x and 3.5x) and can be used to study their findings.

As a County Spider Recorder I get invited to assist at various Bioblitzes and Bug Hunts as well as running Spider Identification Courses. I've tried a number of "bug pots" to assist in this ranging from just over £1 to around £14 but these are far and away the best for children and adults alike, irrespective of price. The two magnification ranges facilitate viewing from a distance and close up. The 5mm grid at the bottom of the pot, although not as accurate as other versions which have 1mm linear markings are actually better for estimating the size of a specimen as the grid covers most of the base of the pot and you don't have to wait until your specimen lines up with one of the linear scales as with other vesrions. Being made of plastic they are safer than glass pots for children. I've been recommending these to all and sundry and will certainly buy some more at this price.
