Q. I am looking to use plastazote foam in a product that i am designing for ALevel that would be relatively open to the elements. It is 180mm Diameter Shape and 200mm in Height/Thickness. I was wondering how dense the foam is?(is it the same foam as Swimming Kicking board?) and weather i would be able to purchase a big sheet to cut out the shape roughly 6/7 times to create the desired thickness or if you would be able to cut the shape for me and stick them together? A. Hi Carrick. Thank you for your question. The plastazote is not as dense as a swimming kick board – more like a stiff pad of scotch brite – ie the green part of a scouring pad – but thicker and stiffer. The sheets are 1000x660mm but in various colours and either 3 or 6mm thickness. You would have to cut them out yourself.

Q. Waht is the best way to cut out shapes in the foam please

A. Hi Richard. Thank you for your question. The best way is either using a press die, a very sharp blade or may be a hot knife cutter: any of these would be a good option.
