This module has a very sensitive input for a pair of probes. When the 2 probes come into contact with water, a relay switches on, which can be used to control sirens, lights, pumps, etc.

The water sensors use an extremely low voltage in order to prevent the otherwise usual oxidisation through galvanic currents.

A. Hi Paul, thank you for your question. This is designed to detect water and switch on a relay. It is not designed to be used with a photocell.

16 July 2014 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 55-2439
Q. can i run this product from a standard 9v battery and if so how long would it last for?
A. Hi Don. Thank you for your question. The current consumption is as follows: <10mA (standby), <90mA (relay energised). The battery life will depend on mainly on the capacity and type of battery. The life will also depend on how often and for how long the relay is energised.

08 July 2014 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 55-2439
Q. We are building a new product and I want to run this off a 12v battery so is not stabalised and during charging could be upto 13.6 volts. will this still work OK and be reliable?
A. Hi Peter. Thank you for your question. A zenner diode would be required to stop any excess voltage going through.
