Installing a Schneider EV charging station is not as expensive as you may think. In the UK installation of a residential wall mounted station at an off-street location will cost around £1000 – but the government provides an OLEV grant of £500 for car charging points for electric and plug-in vehicles purchased after 1 April 2015. So home users can expect to pay an average of £500 for one EV charging point.
Installation should be undertaken by a qualified electrician or recommended installer.
65% of EV charging stations are residential. While it is possible to use a standard 13A domestic socket to connect your vehicle to electricity, this is the most dangerous and unreliable charging method and is not recommended.
Schneider's EVlink charging stations are designed to allow private users to have a charging point dedicated to their electric vehicle – in their garage or integrated into their house. Weatherproof and robust, they are designed to be used in tough environments – not just in the home but at work, in public covered car parks and hotels.
