These VEX IQ Classroom Bundles are designed to support classroom learning by providing enough equipment to support groups of 10, 20 or 30 students working in groups of two.

Each pair will have a VEX IQ Super Kit 70-7891, containing a VEX IQ Brain, Controller, 4 motors, 7 sensors and 850 structural parts as well as all batteries, chargers and download cables. Each kit is supplied in a stackable storage bin for easy storage at the end of each lesson.

VEX IQ Robot Brain

VEX IQ has a powerful Robot Brain with 12 ports which can all be used for either sensors or motors. Connect any combination of up to 12 Smart Port devices to the Robot Brain, which can then be controlled by built-in programs or programmed via a computer and compatible software program. In addition to using pre-programmed instructions, VEX IQ robots can be controlled by drivers using the Controller.

Both the Robot Brain and the Joystick have an integrated (although replaceable!) rechargeable battery which is capable of running robots for hours. The Joystick can be recharged by simply plugging into a USB port.

Smart Motors

The Smart Motor does more than just make your wheels spin or arm move. The built in processor, quadrature encoder and current monitor allow for advanced control and feedback through the Robot Brain. This allows you to program the motor to move very precisely, either by an exact number of rotations or number of degrees.

The motors are easily connected to any other structural parts using the same pins.

In order to allow your robot to interact with its environment, the VEX IQ system has a large range of sensors which can plug into any port on the Robot Brain. The table below gives some examples of the many ways in which these sensors can be used

VEX IQ Distance Sensor
Gyro Sensor Measures rotation and calculates direction
  • Help a robot to travel in a particular direction
  • Use to keep a robot on a particular heading or course
VEX IQ Gyro Sensor
Touch LED Capacitive touch sensor and multicolour LED
  • Detect when a human touches the sensor, but not plastics, metals etc
  • Output and display any colour on the LED
  • Use to signal status or mood
