A Full Turn-key Solution

A Full Turn-key Solution

We take you through the installation process, from initial enquiry to certification

Every project will vary in cost and time according to scope, scale and the particular characteristics or demands of the site.

In general, an EV charging installation project comprises four stages:

Step 1

Defining requirements

Following your initial enquiry, we respond quickly by telephone. After finding out about your requirements we advise on the best equipment options, including floor or wall mounting, types of connector, normal or fast-charging rates, or the preferred method users should pay for the EV charging service, such as RFID touch cards, credit cards or other specified transaction method. We ask about site details, discuss planning and funding, authorisation and permissions, existing power supplies, and any other factors or special circumstances.

Step 2

A comprehensive quote

To provide a quote we request a site visit. This includes surveying the location, conducting a risk assessment of hazards (for example, on flammable liquids which may be present at a petrol and diesel refuelling station), and we check existing power supplies and whether additional inputs are required. Some installers may prefer to save costs by suggesting additional power is not necessary because chargers are not on together. We do not rely on chance. We follow best practice and use our years of experience in safe and reliable electrical equipment installation.

Step 3

Best practice installation

When a quote is accepted, we appoint a dedicated project manager to work with you. Before starting any groundworks we discuss adequate power supply with mandated authorities such as the Energy Networks Association. We produce any necessary site drawings, check all permissions and submit grant claims for customers applying under the OLEV workplace charging scheme. We lay in cables, install the equipment, connect up and commission the whole system. We also programme or configure the system according to user priorities and use restrictions, and the preferred payment methods.

Step 4

Certification and ongoing support

After rigorous testing and having followed the IET Standards ‘Code of Practice for Electrical Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation’ to the letter, we issue National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) compliance certification and hand over the working system to the customer.

Lastly, we offer a reliable help desk and a highly responsive, same-day field repair and overhaul service, and ongoing maintenance for the complete number of charging points we have installed. We can do this based on time elapsed or according to each charger’s actual use.

The partnership of Rapid and ICEE provides customers with a complete one-stop EV charging solution, rather than the time and effort dealing with multiple suppliers, contractors and consultants.
