Rapid shortlisted for Engineering Ambassador of the Year

Rapid shortlisted for Engineering Ambassador of the Year
Rapid is delighted to have been shortlisted for Engineering Ambassador of the Year at the British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs). It is the third year running that the company has been shortlisted in this prestigious category.

This has been a year of unprecedented challenges for the education sector and those that work in or support it. During the first lockdown of Spring 2020, we felt it was important to help students transitioning to home learning and the challenges of studying remotely and individually.

We joined forces with several of our industry partners – major brands like Arduino, VEX, Shape Robotics and Bare Conductive – and came up with the idea of the 6-Week STEAM Challenge. Every week a task would be set which could be completed using only resources that were freely available online. They ranged from programming a robot to draw a picture to designing a product to combat Covid-19.

“The response we got from the 6-Week Challenge was phenomenal”, says Jennifer King, Rapid’s Product Manager for Education. “While this can never fully replace the work we would have done in our workshops, school visits and other site-based challenges, it helped tick students’ brains over and may have nurtured a budding engineer or two.”

It is all part of Rapid’s commitment to ‘bring STEAM to life’.

The full shortlist is:

  • Energus - nucleargraduates
  • Frida Nzaba, Rolls-Royce Plc
  • Rapid Electronics
  • Techwuman
The winners will be announced at the BEEAs virtual event from 22-26 March.
