Q. does it need a 240v plug
A. Hi Dermot, thank you for your question. This is not a mains powered iron it is designed to work at between 9-12V DC only it comes with bare ended cable to fit the suitable 9-12V DC you have. It would be dangerous to apply mains to the iron.
