I usually use oil pastels and am finding the bulkiness of these hard to get used to. They blend just like oil pastels, and the colours are just as rich and vibrant, but I can't get details such as eyes and mouth or trees on my regular size paintings so am using them mostly for underlayers and completing detail with oil. They do help you to loosen up though, and they do dry (unlike oil pastels), and being able to combine with traditional oils is a bonus, so I'm going to persevere with them and see what else I can do with a bit more practice.
