The WEEE and RoHS regulations are hugely significant pieces of legislation for manufacturers, importers, distributors and end users of electrical and electronic equipment. In this site you will find information about the requirements of the legislation and the actions Rapid is taking to ensure compliance, as well as the latest WEEE and RoHS news.
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive became law in member states of the European Union in 2007. The scheme places responsibility for the collection, treatment, recycling and environmentally sound disposal of WEEE on producers of electrical equipment, and intends to reduce the amount of end-of-life equipment going to landfill.
The Restriction Of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive bans the sale in the European Union of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
Rapid continues to work closely with its suppliers and external agencies to ensure compliancy with the requirements of both directives.
