The industry´s first high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) cable with a 1.4 specification has been announced by NXG Technologies.
Available up to 20 metres in length, the cable also offers 3D 2,160-pixel digital video transfer as well as Ethernet capability. However, there are currently no applications which take the technology.
According to engadget, the cables are being offered only to dealers as consumers will not be able to buy TVs with the capabilities supported by the 1.4-version HDMI connection until the beginning of next year.
Official testing has not yet been done so the cable also comes with no certification, but despite this the device costs $44.95 (£27.11) per metre - up to $380 for those requiring 20-metres.
Cable manufacturer Atlona recently announced a new range of HDMI port connection devices to work with the mounted plasma televisions which are currently dominating the market, 4rfv.com reported.
