British Gas has announced that Wales will see several skills centres set up in order to train its staff and residents in methods of microgeneration.
With the first such centre planned for the south of the country, up to 1,300 people a year could increase their knowledge of microgeneration technologies and techniques, such as solar power and wind turbines.
The British Gas Green Skills Centre in Blaenau, Gwent, will open later this year, providing information and training on the workings and installation of microgeneration systems as part of the Welsh Assemblys carbon reduction plans.
Welsh first minister Rhodri Morgan said: "Assembly government is now working to ensure this area is at the forefront of the future energy revolution promoting renewable sustainable green energy and low carbon housing."
The National Association for Professional Inspectors and Testers recently received the ability to award electrical contractors with certification approving the safe installation of microgeneration systems, according to Heating and Ventilating.
Rapid Electronics are a leading UK supplier of electronic components, electrical products and industrial equipment to the Electrical Contractors sector.
