Six new helpers from the south of the UK have received the qualifications necessary to aid primary school students in numeracy and literacy learning.
Chief executive of Devon County Council (DCC) Phil Norrey presented Exeter Road primary school teacher Marnie England, along with five others, with a certificate at a ceremony this week, reports the Exmouth Journal.
Now a member of Reading Recovery, Ms England will be able to help disadvantaged children at her school to attain the numeracy and literacy understanding they need.
Christine Channon, cabinet member for schools and skills at DCC, told the newspaper: "I would like to congratulate all six teachers for the hard work they have put in to achieve this extra qualification. It is vitally important that children get the basics of literacy and numeracy right."
A government project in Wales organised by the Youth Justice Service was recently launched to help teenagers at risk of offending through teaching them literacy and numeracy skills, according to the Wrexham Evening Leader.
