Texas electronic components supplier Mouser has been contracted by connection product manufacturer Molex to provide one of its new socket devices.
The newly released Molex DDR3 DIMM socket is one of the products to be offered by Mouser, allowing 800 to 1,600 megabits per second data transfer, twice the speed capable with the DDR2 model.
Greater performance is acquired through the 240 circuits present within the device and power consumption has been reduced from the previous model by 0.3 V to 1.5 V.
Barry McConnell, senior vice-president of products for Mouser, said: "They are perfect for high end workstations, servers-blade servers, rack-optimised servers, mainframes, telecommunication routers and switches."
Cable manufacturer Torrent recently launched a new series of high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) cables which allow greater protection from being pulled out of their connections.
The cables can be locked to sockets by small magnets placed inside the connector, stopping the devices from becoming unplugged by accident.
