LED manufacturer Seoul Semiconductor has had its lighting devices used to provide illumination for a display of ancient Chinese works of art at Da An Art Gallery in the Guangdong province of the country.
Lighting for works of art has specific requirements, such as low ultraviolet and heat radiation for protection against deterioration, as well as providing sufficient light to enable visitors to see the fine details of a painting.
Seoul Semiconductor´s 7.2-watt LEDs were chosen for these qualities over incandescent or fluorescent alternatives, which often require additional filters, as well as providing a reduction in energy costs.
A member of staff at Seoul Semiconductor said: "Selection of our Z-Power LED for a museum requiring particular standards means that our stability and technological power have been recognised."
New York energy-saving technology provider WAC Lighting recently announced a range of thermally-efficient, perishable-sensitive LED products designed for display purposes.
