This device is a digital thermometer that provides 9-bit to 12-bit Celcius temperature measurements, communicating via a 1-wire bus that greatly simplifies communications with the attendant microprocessor. An additional feature is an alarm function with non-volatile, user-programmable upper and lower voltage trigger points. The DS18B20 can derive power directly from the data line ('parasitic power'), eliminating the need for an external power supply.
