Questions

Question by Thomas dennis
30th April 2012

QIf I want to run 5 of these lights of AA batteries in a parallel circuit how many batteries should I use and will I need a transistor
AHi Thomas, thank you for your question. We can advise that for the Red LEDs – 2 x AA batteries would be required + 1 x 47 Ohm resistor for each LED. For the White LED – 3 x AA batteries would be required +1 x 33 Ohm resistor for each LED.

Question by Mark B
2nd April 2012

QI'm wanting to use the Ac-dc 18w Constant Current Driver 700ma so what resistor would i need as i'm running two leds from the supply to provide a backlight effect?
AHi Mark, this is not going to be easily possible as the LEDs only require 30mA each max. The driver by design is going to push out 700mA anywhere between 3 and 30V. Even having both these in series will only produce a requirement for 3.7 to 5V max. We strongly suggest you do not try to use this driver to power these LEDs – they are intended for very high power LEDs.

Question by Ben | Product code: 55-0370
9th March 2012

QWhich photodiode exactly is compatible with this LED?
AThanks for your enquiry Ben. This is an ordinary LED with a peak wavelength of 660nm. There is no photodiode in our range that exactly matches this closest would be either light sensor 58-0120 which has peak sensitivity at 580nm or 58-0142 which has a peak sensitivity of 850nm but has a range from 350-1100nm, this is only available to back order.

Question by rupal
5th March 2012

Qfor this led can i just connect it to a baterry and will it work or will i need resistors and other components
AThanks for your enquiry Rupal. It depends on the battery being connected but I would suspect it will require a resistor. If you let us know how many of these you want to run and what sort of battery you want to use we can provide you with more info.
