The LIS302DL MEMS motion sensor is a low-power, 3-axis linear acceleromter that includes a sensing element and an IC interface that outputs the measured acceleration data via an I²C/SPI serial interface. Manufactured using a dedicated process developed by ST, this device features CMOS circuitry making it suitable for direct interfacing with a microcontroller. The sensor is packaged in an ultra compact TLGA package that has a footprint of just 5 x 3 x 1mm. Additional features include an extended temperature range and high shock survivability, ensuring that the device is suitable for a wide range of applications requiring high sensitivity motion sensing such as free-fall detection, crash sensing, motion activated functions, gaming and virtual reality input devices, vibration monitoring and compensation.
