Text-to-speech modules that can store and playback up to 30 pre-defined phrases that have been downloaded from a PC (via configuration software SP03.exe - downloadable from www.picaxe.co.uk). Alternatively, using the I²C interface, unlimited text-to-speech is possible. The module is based around the WTS701 single-chip synthesiser (which includes a text-to-speech processor) and also included in the kit is a programming adaptor (PCB, 2x connectors, battery clip). Electrical connection to the device is by one of two headers. PL1 (9-pin) is used for I²C and RS232 communication and PL2 (8-pin) is the digital input port, which is used for selecting pre-defined phrases (which also may be selected via the I²C interface).
