Atmels AT91SAM7S is a range of general purpose Flash microcontrollers that are based on the 32-bit ARM RISC processor. These devices are an ideal migration path for 8-bit users looking for the additional performance and extended memory of a 32-bit device but at a competitively low price.
The comprehensive feature set of these devices, which minimises the number of external components required, and which includes high-speed Flash, SRAM, integrated USB2.0 device and excellent power management functions, make them perfectly suited to mobile and peripheral applications requiring connectivity to a PC, PDA or cellular phone, and where low power consumption is a critical design goal.
A further benefit of these devices is that they are programmable in-circuit via the JTAG-ICE interface, using the AT91SAM-ICE 73-4262 (see this section for details), or alternatively via a parallel interface on a production programmer prior to mounting. Built-in locking and security protects the firmware from deliberate or accidental overwrite and preserves data confidentiality.
