Question by Rick Saville
27th February 2012

QHi there. I race motorbikes and use tyre warmers but one has developed a fault where the thermal switch is not working correctly. Would the Microtherm bi-metallic thermal switch T11V 10005U200L work in this situation? The warmers work between 80 to 100 degrees, the original switch is shrink sleeved onto the element wire. Hope you can help, Thanks Rick.
AGiven your requirements, this item is probably not suitable as it opens somewhere between 96 and 106 Deg C and its not clear when it would switch back on. The thermal switch 26-7420 seem a better choice if it can be fitted as it turns on at 85Deg C and off at 100 Deg C + 3 DegC – it will also handle more current – up to 10A mains.
