22 July 2019 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 37-0438
Q. Hi, could I use this to connect to and recharge an AA rechargeable battery in an outdoor clock or would it be better to choose something bigger like a 3v unit? Thanks, HG
A. Hi Hamish, thank you for your question. This could be used to trickle charge a battery.

14 April 2016 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 37-0438
Q. would it power the sails of a garden windmill
A. Hi Len, thank you for your question. These panels output 1V and 150mA in absolute sun maximum so you would need multiple panels in series and parallel to achieve the necessary voltage and current your windmill requires, these are generally for proof of principle experiments for education.

08 December 2015 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 37-0438
Q. How heavy is it?
A. Hi Shay, thank you for your question. These panels weigh approximately 8g.

11 April 2014 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 37-0438
Q. How long are the wires that come out of the panel?
A. Hi Lauren. Thank you for your question. The leads are approximately 11cm.

19 March 2013 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 37-0438
Q. Could the panels be put in series to produce say 12 volts
A. Hi Bill. Thank you for your question. Yes this can be done to increase the output voltage.

27 June 2012 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 37-0438
Q. does it have a positve and negative wire that could be connected to something like a split ring commutator
A. Hi Jack, there is a positive and negative socket that you can connect wires to. However the wires do not come with the adaptor.

16 February 2012 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 37-0438
Q. Does the voltage output of the cell decrease if the panel is covered? How much of the panel needs to be covered for this to have a significant effect? Does the voltage decrease uniformly or does it drop suddenly when the panel is completely covered?
A. Hi Trevor, thanks for your question. Yes, the power output will decrease if the panel is obscured – the same effect as a cloudy day. It is difficult to say whether this would be a voltage drop, current drop or combination of the two. As solar output seems to be linked to surface exposed area, we think the voltage decrease is proportional to the area covered.

25 October 2011 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 37-0438
Q. Will it be able to power a motor for a model car
A. Hi Alex, thank you for your question. It would only power a 1 volt motor, it is very unlikely that it will be suitable unless it is used as part of a charging system with a battery in the model car. Otherwise it will not produce enough power to run a motor really.

03 October 2011 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 37-0438
Q. Hi, will this run a small pond pump? or will i need something bigger? also does this have a standard plug connection on it? (how do send power to pump)
A. thanks the out put is only 1 volt so i think would not be powerfull enough it may be enough to top uo a battery just
